Admission Requirements
- Must have a current drug and alcohol evaluation.
- Must bring $30.00 down payment.
- A client will not be admitted into the short term residential program if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Client must have been clean and sober for at least three days and have a GAF of 60 or less. If a client is currently maintaining abstinence, living in a safe environment, and not a high risk for relapse, they may be deemed inappropriate for this level of care. If a client presents to treatment having used any mind or mood altering substance within the last 3 days, they may not be admitted into STR and will be required to obtain medical clearance for detox before being admitted to the detox program. If a client chooses not to get medical clearance for detox, they will have the option of being placed back on the waiting list. A client may be admitted to the detox only at the discretion of the facility coordinator or Clinical Director or counseling staff. The drug of choice, withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, urinalysis, and client behavior will be considered in the decision of approval for admission for the client.
- If on medications, you must bring a 45 day supply of all medications. Admission will be denied if you do not present with a 45 day supply of medication. All prescribed medications must be current/valid prescriptions and be in a clearly labeled prescription container. If you have samples from the doctor, we will need a letter from the doctor stating that you are to take the medication and how you are to take it.
- Client must provide own transportation to and from NEPSAC.
Suggested Items to Bring to Treatment
- One week’s worth of clothing (no clothing displaying inappropriate logos, sexually offensive or advertising alcohol or drugs). Socks, slippers or shoes are to be worm in the facility at all times. Appropriate sleeping attire (no sheer clothing, no sleeping in underwear or boxers only and no sleeping in the nude).
- Personal hygiene toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, shampoo, conditioner, shaving items, deodorant, soap, lotion, and sanitary napkins, mouthwash is Ok as long as it contains no alcohol). Some over the counter medications are allowed as long as they are in a sealed container and are approved by our medical advisor. If you have a question about the OTC you are taking please call ahead of time. .
- Money for toiletries, pop machine, etc. You will be taken to the store one time per week by NEPSAC staff. Please do not bring more than $100.00.
- Items for letter writing (stamps & envelopes). May also bring personal pictures as long as they are appropriate.
- Phone card. You may also bring a cell phone however it will be locked in your locker until phone time.
- If you are a smoker, you may bring cigarettes however no open packs will be allowed at admission.
- You may bring food, candy, and pop as long as it has not been opened.
General Information
NEPSAC will provide all meals, bed linens, laundry facilities and laundry soaps and NEPSAC physical and TB test. We do not provide: medical services beyond the physical, medications, over the counter medication, psychiatric treatment, transportation to or from treatment, or postage stamps.
Visitors are not allowed during the first weekend. Visiting hours are on Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Clients are allowed two phone calls per day. Client phone number is 308-282-1508. The client will be advised beforehand of required search.
Mail
Clients are allowed to send mail on a daily basis. The post office has “returned to sender” mail that has carried the 305 Foch St. address. The proper mailing address for NEPSAC, PO Box 428, Gordon, NE 69343 The Director will pick up and send mail at the post office Monday through Friday. There will be no mail on holidays. When the Director is absent mail may be picked up or sent by another staff member or picked up the next day. Staff will search all packages received by clients for weapons, drugs, etc. as a safety precaution. In the absence of the Director the mail may be a day or so late.
Items Not Allowed
- Alcohol or illicit drugs
- Weapons of any type
- Electronics (stereos, camcorders, radios, personal computer etc.)
- Pornographic materials •
- Movies, DVD’s, CD’s etc.
- Candles, incense, etc.
Exclusionary Criteria
Clients may not be admitted for the following reasons:
- The client’s needs exceed what we can provide (primary problems is psychiatric, client is medically unstable). The Clinical Director will have the final decision at all times.
- Conflict of interest between a NEPSAC employee and the client that may restrict the clients’ treatment involvement.
- Persons with criminal records indicating aggressive or violent behavior or convicted of sexual assault/Level 3. This will be determined by the clinical staff.
- Persons diagnosed with active TB.
