Admission Requirements

  1. Must have a current drug and alcohol evaluation
  2. A client will not be admitted into the short term residential program if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Client must have been clean and sober for at least three days and have a GAF of 50 or less. If a client is currently maintaining abstinence, living in a safe environment, and not a high risk for relapse, they may be deemed inappropriate for this level of care. If a client presents to treatment having used any mind or mood altering substance within the last 3 days, they may not be admitted into STR.
  3. If on medications, you must bring a 45 day supply of all medications. Admission will be denied if you do not present with a 45 day supply of medication. All prescribed medications must be current/valid prescriptions and be in a clearly labeled prescription container. If you have samples from the doctor, we will need a letter from the doctor stating that you are to take the medication and how you are to take it.
  4. Client must provide own transportation to and from NEPSAC.

Suggested Items to Bring to Treatment

  1. Please be advised Due to Health and Safety, NEPSAC is requiring that you bring one week’s worth of clothing in a plastic garbage bag. (No luggage please) (No clothing displaying inappropriate logos, sexually offensive or advertising alcohol or drugs). Shirts must cover belly, no low cut, or halter tops, or spaghetti straps. Males can wear tanks as long as it’s covered with another shirt. Socks, slippers or shoes are to be worn in the facility at all times. Appropriate sleeping attire/ pajamas (no sheer clothing, no sleeping in underwear or boxers only and no sleeping in the nude). NEPSAC provides bed linens so please do not bring blankets, pillows or towels.  Upon admission into Short Term Residential Treatment, everyone will be required to launder their own clothes and shower.
  2. Personal hygiene toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, shampoo, conditioner, shaving items, deodorant, soap, lotion, and sanitary napkins, tampons.  No over the counter medications are allowed unless approved by the Executive Clinical Director. If you have a question about the over the counter medication that you are taking, please call ahead of time. Vitamins are ok to bring
  3. Money for toiletries, pop machine, etc.  You will be taken to the store one time per week by NEPSAC staff.  Please do not bring more than $100.00
  4. Items for letter writing (stamps & envelopes).  May also bring personal pictures as long as they are appropriate.
  5. You may not bring cell phones. If you do, it will be placed in your locker and returned to you when you leave. You will not be allowed access to your cell phone your entire stay. NEPSAC will provide phones for clients to make daily calls to family.
  6. If you are a smoker, you may bring cigarettes. However, no open packs will be allowed at admission.
  7. You may bring food, candy, and pop as long as it has not been opened. 

General Information

NEPSAC will provide all meals, bed linens, laundry facilities and laundry soaps.   We do not provide: medical services, medications, over the counter medication, psychiatric treatment, transportation to or from treatment, or postage stamps. Visitors are not allowed during the first weekend.  Visiting hours are on Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.  Clients are allowed two phone calls per day.  Client phone number is 308-282-1508.  Client address is: NEPSAC     P.O. Please be advised that all clients entering our program will have their belongings searched.  The client will be advised beforehand of required search. 


Clients are allowed to send and receive mail on a daily basis.  The post office has “returned to sender” mail that has carried the 305 Foch St. address.  The proper mailing address for NEPSAC, PO Box 428, Gordon, NE  69343
The Director will pick up and send mail at the post office Monday through Friday. There will be no mail on holidays. When the Director is absent mail may be picked up or sent by another staff member or picked up the next day. Staff will search all packages received by clients for weapons, drugs, etc. as a safety precaution.

Items Not Allowed

  • Alcohol or illicit drugs
  • Weapons of any type
  • Electronics (stereos, camcorders, radios, personal computer, IPod, IPad, MP3 players etc.)
  • Pornographic materials
  • Movies, DVD’s, CD’s etc.
  • Candles- incense, etc.
  • Cell phones.
  • Hairspray, hair dye, cologne/perfume/mouthwash with alcohol, nail polish/nail polish remover
  • Crafting items (beadwork, coloring books, markers, crayons, colored pencils)
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Drums or any type of musical instrument

Exclusionary Criteria

Clients may not be admitted for the following reasons:

  1. The client’s needs exceed what we can provide (primary problems is psychiatric, client is medically unstable). The Executive Clinical Director will have the final decision at all times.
  2. Conflict of interest between a NEPSAC employee and the client that may restrict the clients’ treatment involvement.
  3. Persons with criminal records indicating aggressive or violent behavior or convicted of sexual assault/Level 3. This will be determined by the clinical staff.
  4. Persons diagnosed with active TB.
